NGC 1300 was discovered on December 11, 1835 by John Herschel. NGC 1300 is a beautiful barred spiral galaxy located 61 million light-years away in the constellation of Eridanus.
It is a part of the Eridanus Cluster, which located about 75 million light-years away. The cluster contains about 73 large galaxies and about 200 galaxies in total.
With a diameter of about 110,000 light-years, it's about the same size as the Milky Way.
