Belonging to the Virgo Cluster of galaxies,NGC4527 can be seen with 10.5mag visual brightness an an apparent size of 6.3 x 2.1 arc-minutes easily with mid-sized telescopes.In the center of this barred-spiral of type SAB(s)bc starburst takes place.
Its real distance of 75 mio.light-years is not well determined.William Herschel first detected this galaxy in 1784.
