NGC 488 Galaxy in Pisces

NGC488 is a fine type SA(r)b galaxy,located in the the constellation of Pisces.It has a size of 5.2 x 4.0 arc minutes and a real distance of about 100 million light years.

It is the prototype of a multiarmed spiral-galaxy with very tightly wounded arms.

The apparent magnitude is about 10.5mag.

It was first detected by  William Herschel in 1784.
