NGC 1788 Foxface Nebula in Orion

NGC 1788 is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Orion. It is rather sharply defined on its southwest perimeter where it is flanked by the dark nebula known as Lynds 1616 in the center of the image as part of NGC 1788. The nebula is located about 1300 light-years away, a few degrees from the bright stars in Orion’s belt.

Both the red Ha arc and the blue reflection nebula are part of the bright rimmed cometary cloud Lynds 1616.
